Winter "Campout" at Hobble Creek Canyon Cabin

We did this last year and for some reason tried it again this year, what were we thinking? We left the church at 4:30 pm and arrived at the drop location at 5:15. We then hiked for a good hour uphill 1 mile in the deep snow. Most of us towed packs on sleds but some manly men backpacked their packs. Some were slow some were fast but we all made it up there. Bro. White beat us all with a blazing time of 45 minutes for the hike. Here's Chris, Eric, and Keith patiently waiting for their beloved leader Bro. Anderson.
They couldn't wait any longer so they started going immediately when Bro. Anderson caught up to them. Apparently Chris was too hot for his body, either that or he hates wearing a coat.
In this view you could barely see the top of the cabin far off in the distance.
Here were the leaders of the pack, Michael out front, Jared, and Tanner with a painful look on his face. Somehow Connor wasn't in these photos but he made it up anyway.
Here's the fast ones as they left Bro. Anderson in their dust.
And here's the speed challenged (politically correct way to say it) making sure none of us dropped anything.
The fast ones then had to wait at the door for the key to arrive. It was hard work over those last 100 feet as your foot would sink down 3 feet in deep untouched snow. We had to crawl across to reach the cabin.
Here's the official game of the Parkway 5th Priest's Quorum (or at least for Eric, Michael, and Keith) - Scotland Yard.
The others would rather play pool up in the colder floor. It doesn't appear that Connor was feeling very well in this photo.
Here's Poolshark Tanner knocking the balls around.
Michael was winning so he had to get up and do a victory dance.
Jared never could figure out this horseshoe trap thing. It kept him occupied quite some time while Keith got the pancakes ready.
I think this is Eric judging by the size of the gun.
And here must be Connor, judging by the size of his gun.
Defeated and shot down, Keith and Eric return to the cabin.
Here's what we really did the whole time, sit around and ...
...listen to old school tunes from Bro. White's phone.
Here's the Parkway 5th Luge Team prepared to race down the hill.
Jared was monkeying around, Chris and Tanner were laughing at Keith's joke, Connor was growing Mickey Mouse ears, Eric was looking cute (knowing that Laurels would someday see these photos), Jared was afraid of the porch, and Michael couldn't bare to watch.
We were snowed in pretty good.
And here's the start of the race. Everyone wanted to get a head start in order to have a chance at beating Bro. White and Bro. Anderson.
Soon however, Jared, Tanner, and I believe Chris were left in the dust, err, snow.
Bro. White was walking faster than most of us were sledding.
Tanner decided to give the walking thing a try too.
We all made it down finally with no broken sleds, just a hole in one of them. Keith was proud to have won, but too humble to look at Bro. Anderson for this photo.
Here's the fun part, the videos. This first one has Tanner wiping out and Jared flying past him, only to wipe out himself.

Here's Connor's version of snowboarding. He did rather well in this video.

And finally we have Chris sledding into his own crash.
